Harichandra Pawar is 50 years old and lives in Pimpalgaon Malvi (the village near Meherazad and MFD). He is handicapped because of previous damage to his left leg. His financial situation is very poor. He does not own a house or land. He has a wife and two children, but both children are in Remand boarding school for their education. (The “Remand boarding school” would be, typically, for kids who have gotten in trouble, e.g. juvenile delinquents, but in this case the kids attend because of their poverty.) He lives at a river site in a hut. In the rainy season his roof leaks, so when the rain comes he goes with his wife to the temple to sleep.
Today he comes with his wife, Sunita, for knee pain and backache. His wife has been having dizziness since birth. She was having a problem with her right foot on the day the photo was taken.
Harichandra said that when he has work he is able to provide for the household. Sometimes there is no work and he has no money for food. He cannot go to a private hospital for treatment for his back and knee so Harichandra is happy that Meher Free Dispensary doctor consulting is free and, most importantly, that the Dispensary has its own pharmacy which gives the prescribed medicines to the patient at no charge. Otherwise he could not afford medical treatment for his wife and himself.
