CHABU KADAM

Chabu Kadam is about 80 years old and lives in the near-by city of Ahmednagar (Pipeline area). She told me that, when she married, she lived with her husband in Pimpalgaon Village near MFD. However, two years later her husband divorced her and married another woman.

At this point Chabu moved to her brother’s home for a few years. But, when her brother married, he started to beat her. One of her relatives told her that, since she was being beaten, why continue to live with her brother? So the relative took her to Ahmednagar to work as a pot washer. She lived where she was working.
But now that she is old and cannot work, she lives on Pipeline Road in a Municipal area. There she has constructed a tent to live in. Her one relative is providing some food for her.

Chabu has high blood pressure and asthma; she comes every month for free medicine. She said she does not have any money to purchase medicine or other essentials. Meher Free Dispensary gives the medicines prescribed by the doctors to every patient without any charge. So she is very grateful and happy, and the medicine is controlling her blood pressure and asthma.
